My Poem

Inspired by the word STEEL, I come-up with this poem.  It can be sang to the tune of  'Yesterday's Dream'...

Longing to be Safe
Serve You Oh God in words, acts and in mind
The cloak of Thy wisdom may forever be mine
Guide my endeavors be always upright
I shall not move away from the path of ‘life’

Troubles even hardships might seize me
I promise to hold on completely…
I swear to guard myself in moments of bliss
I shall remain with You forever in peace…

My Facial Care Product

Allergy to face powder? Never liked the espasol look of some face creams? Sensitive skin?

Here is another product I wanted to share with you. Undergoing puberty, my facial skin began to break out - pimples, whiteheads and blackheads sign-up.

Facial Wash

Being teenager then I never liked the idea and it stresses me to look at the mirror.  I started trying to use astringents, commercialized facial cleansers but still did not work.  It took long until I tried Ponds because each product takes weeks to observe I just stopped earlier than a week when the effect is worse like if it made my skin rougher, drier or more skin disturbances come out (pimples etc).

My Favorite Pinoy Singers

Sharon Cuneta

I like her voice even when I am still in highschool, she sings with her heart and she has a melodious voice.Sharon is happily married now to senator husband (KikoPangilinan).  She has a daughter singer-actress KC Concepcion from a previous relationship (Gabby Concepcion) - a very accomplished bachelorette who graduated  abroad. She is a very bankable product endorser in the country. She has done a lot of Box-office hits for movies in the past.  Sharon is a daughter of a politician – mayor. She is known to be kind-hearted, approachable and very sweet.

Sharon is called the Megastar here – being a very good product endorser, box-office hit actress and a popular singer.

Songs by Sharon:

Accidents are Accidents, A True Story

The Mellow Afternoon of June 2010

Angel Reign has turned a year old last month. She reached that without any huge health trouble.  She can walk this time as well as climb back and forth in her blanket hammock.  That afternoon, we are both in her room. Her dad is lying down on the sofa watching tv waiting for his call of duty.

The overexcited one year old, who has just learned to walk maybe a month ago, threw her pacifier on the floor.  I need to go to the dining area to sterilize it.  I left her playing in her ‘duyan’ and as I glance I saw her walking her way to the living room back and forth seems like practicing her steps.  I get the cap of the thermos and put the pacifier inside, pour water enough to cover the tip of the orthodontic pacifier.  It is on the left corner of our oblong-shaped wooden and glass dining table.  The distance of the thermos cap is maybe half of a ruler.  I felt some urge to drink a chocolate so I decided to leave it sterilizing for a while and I headed to the right far end of the table where the choco jar is. Since Angel is not wearing her beeping shoes, I did not notice she is near the table that is about two and a half feet tall. I always make it sure that all the chairs are tucked-in because she can climb it. I am about to pour the powder on my cup when I heard Angel terribly crying! I saw her beside the chair, sitting on the floor and her shirt is wet with boiled water –seeing the thermos cap and the pacifier scattered…The chair is not moved at all.  I speculated that she might just step on the chair’s foot support (wooden panel on each side so as to help it balance) that is why she was able to reach the thermos cap and accidentally drenched herself…

That water in the thermos, as I recall was just boiled twelve noon (12nn) and the incident happened 4pm, my diary says.  It is not the thermos that fell but its cap with the sterilizing pacifier, it is nearly a cupful! I was shocked!  I remember shouting “Angel!!!”  I just heard Raymer asking what is it…he then saw the baby. To my panic, I just lifted her up and was not able to remove her shirt at once to avoid more clinging – Ray told me to do so. Maybe for about twenty minutes, I heard my baby crying and screaming.  It is unbearable and hurting seeing her cannot stand the pain that she almost bend her body while standing.  Her skin below her right jaw, neck, right shoulder and armpit was red  but worse on her chest nearly hitting her nipple.  It dripped on the stomach but there, it is not that bad.  The wounds turned watery.

Birthday Greeting

Me and my daughters would like to greet my mama today, Dec.28 (Philippine time) - the ever brave and strong-willed mother who survived being a single-parent to me and my brother...

Writing an Effective Product Complaint

Although most of the times we inspect everything we buy, there is sometimes this little defects or problems we overlooked that we only noticed once we are comfortably sitting in our homes after shopping, the worst is when we are about to use the product. Here are reminders and a sample letter.

Better, meticulously inspect the item and have it tested so it will save you a lot of trouble especially time and expense returning items you purchase. Avoid RUSH buying. And most of all buy in legitimate stores with permanent shop address in case of returns and product complaints. Ask for warranty terms too (how long) when buying electronic items.

In case you have just bought a defective product, you have every right to return it even if you forgot to ask about the warranty. DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) prohibits the “No Return, No Exchange Policy” here in the Philippines. We can reach them online and through telephones to report establishments that not honoring the prohibition. However, make sure to be honest in doing it, let us not abuse the law to take advantage of others. If you know it is in best condition and you caused the items malfunction (like dropping a electronic device), such defects are not acceptable and that is of course dishonesty. Only factory defects or packing negligence are considered legitimate complaints. We must be observers of FAIR trade being responsible consumers and humane.

Be sure to bring the following if you are to come in person (it is better for immediate response from the store). :

My Three Wishes

Poems reveal our deepest emotions, in this poem it is true. I wanted to make life better for for my family, relatives and for the people around me.  I wanted to be of help to others in need but sad that fate can only answer if that could possibly be. When I reach forty, my hope for my dreams shall fade. Good, I still have five more years to aspire…

Nobody is happy for your sibling’s lost, knowing he was deprived of what he should have. That he should have been living a comfortably better life had not his father died and something borrowed was not paid. That brother is always around to give me a hand, now he is helpless, all I can do is to pray for his future.

I have written so many drafts that I did not mail.  It kept me up till dawn, planning my mom’s return to the flock. Worried what might happen every morning I wake-up, wishing to see mother’s name on the ‘Book of Life’ before two possible bad things could happen.

As of now, all I can do is to persevere on waiting for my three wishes to be granted and soon there will be a HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

What I Like about Japanese People

History told us that Japanese soldiers during the first World War were not that “kind” to us Filipinos, but I hope we can move on to the next chapter of History that we have to create for the future generation. It is not of course impossible for things to change and mostly when it comes to people having “intellectual capacity” to perceive things differently and even change for the better.

I have these countless misconception about Japanese People. The moment I hear a Japan Citizen – what comes to my mind is the fearful(?) ‘Yaku-- Organization and Japan's  ultra-famous sharp-edged Samurai.  I felt like running seeing a sight of Nihonjin  around. It so happened that I have met two Japan Citizens who had changed my perception on them.

Photo taken by: Mrs. Lee-Yap Nakajima  Yr. 2002

I formerly worked in a Japanese Heavy Equipment Trading Firm. The Company’s President, Mr. Nakajima is of pure-Japanese blood – his partner Mr. Sasaki (former owner of Multinational Village) too have not just became my big bosses but also friends as well as their wives and children – having Filipina spouses.

Although I can not speak Nihonggo, I have just learned a few – our communication medium is the English Language.  Here are the things I found out that I really like about them:

-Japanese people are minimalist, very simple. They prefer function over design. They are very practical people. Visiting their residence when the family has special occasions, I have seen that they have a table for the purpose of a place to put their plates and glasses while eating. They are not the type that splurges on very expensive antique or famous designer-brand furniture and fixtures. Take note, they can afford it but still…

Thoughts on Disaster Preparedness

Various man-made disaster (fire etc.) or even natural calamities (flood, earthquake etc.) if not be totally avoided can yield lesser casualty when everyone is vigilant. There is nothing more relaxing than being prepared at all cost, whatever happens.

I have heard a message of a man criticizing the reminders from PhilVolcs about the possibility of having an intensity seven (7) earthquake in West Valley Fault territories dominantly encompassing Metro Manila area. It is not really who is that man who has accused that Philvolcs Director Solidum is acting like a false prophet – predicting what could happen in the future as he meant.  I am not favoring the fact that Solidum is a prophet indeed because he is not and he does not pretended to be, in fact he did not even prophesy a date. He is just speaking in behalf of history, what has happened in the past and observing the movement of the tectonic plates that led him to notice the interval of its movement that occurred at a particular interval of years with a little margin of difference. And due to the fact, he has predicted a prospect of earthquake occurrence anytime. I am not paid by Mr. Solidum nor anyone from Philvolcs advocating their side BUT just being thankful that he (representing his agency) has reminded us to be prepared IN CASE tremors will surface. The warning respected than critiqued by many has led concerned government agencies up to Barangay levels and had taken seriously to have pushed them to provide awareness and sponsor quake drills to their respective constituents. The Church where I belong also unite with the government on this call; in fact the Central Office has already taken a drill as seen on Net25 reports. Earthquake Safety Awareness campaign is but crucial in saving potential victims (injured or maybe even dead at the worst!). MMDA is also doing their share and ready to provide FREE awareness seminar/drill to schools, Barangays who will want to invite them as a resource speaker. There is more apart from going under the table or running in an open space in case an earthquake occurs.  Additional are some family-related measures to ensure the safety and reach of each member during the calamity.

The Simple Beauty of Bougainvillea Flower

Everywhere I go, I see different-colored Bougainvilleas -white, baby pink, fuschia pink, light orange what else am I forgetting? And there are these local variety having smaller and flat-curved petals while the imported ones has this bigger and pointed flower petals. There is also these varieties that have few petals and the other has lots of.

I love the houses with garden surrounded by them. These flowers' vine are sometimes arched on gate and also decorated the fences of some huts and bungalows I see around. How lovely! I seldom see one without a flower. And they can be planted and let the nature nurture them. They are still that nice but maybe even better if cared for personally.

'Felix Manalo' Movie - NOW SHOWING

Lopez, Quezon is around three-four hours drive away from SM Lucena (Quezon West). I have never been so excited celebrating my birthday (October 8) today in an advance celebration. I regard this as a gift of God to me, the coincident showing of the BioPic of the Church of Christ’s considered to be “God’s Messenger in these last days” (Iglesia ni Cristo)Felix Manalo.

I am proud to say that I am among those many people who had watched the movie on its first showing day apart from the Guiness Book of Record-breaking Premier night in the Philippine Arena last October 4 (more than 46,000+ came erasing Guiness’ latest record-breaker of 10,000 attendees on a Premier Night).

Quote about LOVE

I found this quote and thought of sharing this to you...I think this is true. Those who are in a relationship especially men (maybe not all of them but most) tend to look far to find what his partner does not have to fill what is missing to have a perfect love but doing such is not making it perfect at all when we can CREATE an almost perfect one because the word "perfect" only exist in the dictionary.

Maruya (Banana Pancake) Recipe, My Style

My place is abundant of banana plantain (saging na saba). I do not buy them, friends just share some of their harvest to my family. I have eaten the conventional Maruya and it is really a comfort food paired with a hot chocolate, coffee or even cold drink.  I tried putting a twist to this famous Pinoy merienda (snack). Easy to cook with easy to find ingredients.

Isa po ako sa naging representative ng USAID(United States Agency for International Dev't.) sa isang Medical Detailing Project on Family Planning way back some years ago.
